SHEYDA LIVINGSTON IZQUIERDO
GRADUATE STUDENT OF ARCHITECTURE | DESIGN
Master of Architecture - 2017-20
Bachelor of Design in Architecture - 2013-17
Creation is a powerful tool, through design I have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on people’s everyday lives. I am a designer born in Madrid, Spain and a graduate student from North Carolina State University with a degree in architecture, focused on energy and technology. Architecture, as I see it, can aid in creating a balance between the poetic ambitions of the designer, while addressing the needs intended to bring harmony to the community that it was designed for. It is my passion for architecture that has lead me to discover that design can act as a gateway for social and cultural integration.
When I am not busy articulating design ideas or learning new design principles, I find pleasure in traveling, nature hikes and culinary adventures. I plan to utilize my skills in architecture and design to make a positive impact in our community through leadership in design, aiming to facilitate socio-economic growth, and enhance human-environment systems.
PASSIONS
TEACHER ASSISTANT
Throughout my education at University of Central Florida and North Carolina State University, I've had the opportunity to engage with students in the field of design by becoming a teacher assistant.
At North Carolina State University, I was one of two teacher assistants in charge of conducting the First-Year-Experience of design Studio.
This has been an invaluable experience that has pushed me to become a better designer. In the field of design, we can sometimes become stagnant in our creative thinking process. I believe that my students have given me a breath of fresh air and have pushed me to think outside the box, just as much as I've pushed them. It has been and continues to be amazing opportunity to watch them grow and flourish into the designers they are becoming.
TRAVELING
Architecture and travel, they go together! Like Peanut Butter and Jelly, or Tacos and Tuedays
I love traveling to new places, experiencing the culture, the people, and immersing myself into the local life as much as possible, nothing broadens your perspective more than immersing yourself into someone else's way of life. I believe these experiences enhance my creative capabilities as a designer.
For a few years now, I've had a scratch-off map of the world, and I've had the fortune to visit 29 countries so far. The map serves me as a reminder to plan and prepare for my next adventures. I expand my mental horizons on what is possible through design by expanding my horizons on the map, and who doesn't love a scratch off!
